ABOUT TAMIL NADU FORESTRY TRAINING COLLEGE, VAIGAI DAM

Tamil Nadu Forestry Training College, Vaigai Dam has total area of 201 Ha and it was declared as RF in 1988. It was started in 1961 as an Integrated Forestry Training School to train the Foresters and Forest Guards and later named as Tamil Nadu Forestry Training College in 2005. The Foresters and Forest Guards are given six month induction training at Tamil Nadu Forestry Training College, Vaigai Dam. Besides, various refresher courses and project trainings are conducted under TBGP, NABARD and other schemes.

INNOVATION IN THE FIELD AND WORKS IN THE DIVISION

Trek and learn path of 2.6 km in this campus was inaugurated by then Hon’ble Minister for PWD and Finance and Hon’ble Minister for Forests in Oct’2015. This is particularly for school students to increase their appreciation for nature and to make them more environments conscious. Also, commando training is being imparted to the Foresters and forest Guards who are deputed here for six month induction training.
