Forest type	Fresh water lake with a few trees mainly Babul.
Airfauna found	33 different species of birds. River tern, Black headed munia, Greyheron, White-breasted king fisher, spotted doves etc.
Annual rainfall	About 1400 mm.
Nearest airport	Thiruchirapalli
Nearest Railway station	Thanjavur
Best season	November to February
